The Education Act 1998 provided sets out the framework under which education is delivered in Ireland at the primary and secondary school levels. The act mandated, for the first time, that all schools in receipt of public monies publish their admissions policies. The act also provided an appeals process, under section 29, in cases where schools refused to enroll students.
